Birth and Postnatal Doula Services

Supporting women and families before, during, and after birth

I am a birth doula because I love to coach and nurture women as they experience the miracle of birth.  My role is support you, the mother-to-be,  and your partner(s) in your journey.  I am comfortable working in any setting (hospital, birth center, home birth)  and can provide help with any style of giving birth:   from medication-free to planned Caesarean, supported by midwives or obstetricians.

I encourage childbirth education, goal setting, and flexibility as you prepare to welcome your baby.    It is great to be armed with information and very useful to have a vision for your birth.  But ultimately the baby also has a large say in what happens during birth!   As much as we can plan for labor, there are many unknowns, and I can help you navigate through the possible twists and turns.   I will provide comfort measures, help you get answers to questions that arise, and support your partner as needed.  I  have succeeded in my role  if you feel valued, respected, and nurtured as you help your child enter the outside world.

My birth doula services include two pre-natal consultations, attendance at birth, and one post-natal visit, approximately one to two weeks after birth.    During your pre-natal consultations I will provide information and resources to help you prepare for your birth, and will help you develop or fine tune your birth preferences (a/k/a birth plan).  I am also available for phone/text/email consultation from the time you hire me until your labor begins.

I will attend your birth from the time you want my presence until one to three hours after birth.  If you plan to breastfeed, I will stay with you to help get that process started.  During the post-natal visit I will do a final check-in, and help you process your birth experience.

I believe every woman has the right to a doula.   As such, I have a sliding scale of fees depending on circumstances.   I can discuss fees during an interview.  I typically require a 50% deposit on hiring, and the balance paid at the post-natal visit.

I encourage you to interview at least two or three doulas, to find the right fit for you and your support partner(s).  If you choose to interview me, I provide an initial one-hour  consultation free of charge.
